Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash in Troutdale

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. -- The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and East County Vehicular Crimes Team are investigating a deadly, two-vehicle crash involving a commercial semi-truck and a passenger sedan that occurred in Troutdale.

This investigation began at approximately 3:48 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, when emergency dispatchers with the Bureau of Emergency Communications (BOEC) received a 911 call about a crash at the intersection of Northeast Marine Drive and Northwest Sundial Road.

Based on the preliminary investigation, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan going west on Northwest Marine Drive and a commercial semi-truck driving south on Northwest Sundial Road collided. The sedan caught fire.

Deputies arrived within six minutes and found the sedan on fire with a fluid and fuel spill on the roadway.

First responders found the driver of the Mercedes-Benz inside the sedan. The driver, a 28-year-old man, died on scene. Paramedics took the passenger, a 32-year-old woman, to the hospital with critical injuries. An update on her condition is not available at this time.

The driver and passenger of the semi were not injured. Both stayed on scene following the crash and are cooperating with the investigation. The driver of the semi is 29-years-old.

Due to the severity of the crash, East County Vehicular Crimes Team responded. To document the crash accurately and reconstruct the dynamics of the crash, investigators used drone technology to capture the scene.

To safely manage this incident, deputies shut down Northeast Marine Drive from Northwest Dunbar and Northwest Sundial Road, which also impacted access to nearby businesses and TriMet services. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to Multnomah County Roads who responded to help with traffic control.

The name of the driver killed will be released after next-of-kin notifications are complete.

No additional information is available for release.
