The MCSO Corrections Standard
While the Multnomah County Detention Center and the Inverness Jail serve distinct operational roles within the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office infrastructure, both facilities operate under a singular, uncompromising standard of professional excellence. MCSO believes that incarceration must provide a stable foundation for personal accountability and positive behavioral change.
Across both institutions, our employees work cohesively to eliminate unnecessary barriers to future success. By treating every individual with dignity and respect, providing fair access to comprehensive medical treatment, and encouraging active engagement in rehabilitative programs, the Corrections Division fulfills its dual mission: protecting immediate public safety, while strengthening the long-term well-being of our community.
Professional Development Opportunities
Multnomah County corrections deputies have the chance to serve on several specialty teams, including the Crisis Negotiation Team, Corrections Emergency Response Team, Dive Team, Honor Guard, and more.
They may also be eligible for special assignments on various units like our Court Services, Transport, and Classification Units.
