Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide at Chinook Landing Marine Park in Fairview

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. - The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at Chinook Landing Marine Park in Fairview. 

At approximately 12:32 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, emergency dispatchers received multiple reports to 9-1-1 of gunfire in the area around 5201 NE 223rd Avenue. 

Responding deputies arrived within minutes and observed evidence of gunfire. Deputies searched the area for victims, including assistance from a K-9 unit and drones from the Portland Police Bureau. 

Deputies located a victim who had died on the scene. The East County Major Crimes Team is investigating the homicide. 

Currently, investigators do not believe there is any threat to the public. 

Chinook Landing Marine Park will remain closed until further notice while the investigation continues. 

The victim’s identity will not be released until family notifications have been completed.

A Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer (PIO) will be available for a media briefing at 1:30 p.m. at the park entrance. 

No additional information can be released at this time. 

The East County Major Crimes Team includes detectives from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, Port of Portland Police Department, Gresham Police Department and Oregon State Police.
