Sheriff's statement on District Attorney's declination to file charges in deputy-involved shooting

Published

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office completed its review of the deputy-involved shooting that occurred on June 13, 2025, near NE 162nd Avenue and NE Glisan Street in Gresham. The District Attorney declined to file criminal charges against the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Adam Suboh, determining that the use of deadly force was legally justified.

This decision follows an investigation led by the East County Major Crimes Team and reviewed by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, in accordance with protocols for officer-involved critical incidents.

“A deputy-involved shooting is traumatic and affect many people. We know that any loss of life, especially during a law enforcement encounter, raises questions and concerns in the community,” said Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell. “Independent review and oversight ensure transparency and accountability following these events, and we appreciate the District Attorney's thorough evaluation of the case.”

In addition to the independent criminal review, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office will now conduct an internal administrative review to ensure the deputy’s actions are aligned with agency policies and training. That process is overseen by the civilian-led Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Unit.

A more detailed legal analysis, summary of the facts of the case, and an annotated compilation of video evidence is published on the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office website.
