Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Intercept Largest Drug Seizure in MCSO History

Published

A joint investigation by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Dangerous Drugs Team (DDT), assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has resulted in the arrest of an Estacada man and the seizure of a record-breaking amount of illegal dangerous drugs.

MCSO DDT investigators learned that the suspect had rented a vehicle and traveled to California to obtain a large quantity of illegal narcotics. The investigation revealed the suspect was driving back to Oregon with the intention of distributing the drugs.

On May 24, 2025, law enforcement officers located the subject driving the rented vehicle northbound on Interstate 5 in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Deputies followed the vehicle to a nearby rest stop, where the suspect was apprehended without incident.

Following the arrest, MCSO DDT investigators and the FBI executed a federal search warrant on the vehicle. This search yielded the seizure of over 278 pounds of methamphetamine and over 2 pounds of cocaine, which were found concealed within the backseat and cargo area of the vehicle.

Later the same day, investigators executed a federal search warrant at the suspect’s residence. During the search of the residence, law enforcement seized two firearms that were hidden under the floor in a closet.

This is the largest drug seizure in the history of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Dangerous Drugs Team (DDT) is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force that identifies, disrupts and dismantles local, multi-state, and international drug trafficking organizations using an intelligence-driven, multi-agency prosecutor-supported approach. MCSO DDT is supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and consists of members from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Gresham Police Department, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service and is supported by analysts from the Oregon National Guard.

The Oregon-Idaho HIDTA program is an Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) sponsored counterdrug grant program that coordinates with and provides funding resources to multi-agency drug enforcement initiatives, including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Dangerous Drugs Team.
