Internal Affairs Unit

The Internal Affairs Unit is dedicated to creating an environment which encourages the highest standards of integrity by assessing and appropriately addressing complaints and concerns received from the public and agency members.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs Unit is dedicated to creating an environment which encourages the highest standards of integrity by assessing and appropriately addressing complaints and concerns received from the public and agency members.

The Internal Affairs Unit is headed by a non-sworn manager who has a background in law and labor relations.

Investigations of complaints against Multnomah County Sheriff's Office members are entrusted to the Internal Affairs Unit. 

It is policy of the sheriff’s office to investigate complaints in a timely, thorough, and impartial manner.

File a complaint

Individuals wishing to file a complaint against a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office member, may do so by filing out the below form, or by printing this form and mailing or email it to Internal Affairs. We will also take complaints by phone, fax or in person. Complaints against sheriff's office members can be made anonymously, though we encourage you to provide your name, telephone number and mailing address to help us conduct a thorough investigation and notify you of any action taken as a result.
