The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is committed to law enforcement reform. Our values as a law enforcement agency align with the values of the community we serve.

At the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, we believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect. Our values as a law enforcement agency align with the values of the community we serve. Public trust and accountability in law enforcement are vital to a safe and inclusive community. As public safety professionals and representatives of the communities we serve, it’s important that we understand the impact that racially motivated policing has on communities of color and marginalized populations. We have no tolerance for disparate treatment.

Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office provides public safety services to four contract cities of Maywood Park, Fairview, Wood Village and Troutdale, as well as unincorporated Multnomah County and monitor 110 miles of waterways. In Corrections, we provide life-changing rehabilitative and detention services, and our Search & Rescue and River Patrol teams keep visitors safe in the iconic Columbia River Gorge.

More than 800 employees represent the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. We hold each other accountable to high standards set by the objectives of our agency. We believe all voices should be heard and valued, and to have the courage to do what is right and just. We are dedicated to public service, safety and trust among our employees and in the communities we serve.

Currently, we are seeking input on two policies, Discrimination and Harassment-Free Workplace and Use of Force. This process occurs every two years.
