WAPATO’S “PERCENT FOR ART” FUNDS
Public projects in the metro area are obligated to devote funds to support “Percent for Art” which is administered by the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC).

We were pleased in this project to split the funds intended for the Wapato Facility site and work with RACC during the selection process to find areas in the community where the art installations would be enjoyed more broadly. It was also important to us to “give back” to the community as a small gesture for the support we received during the siting process. While expansions of Wapato are certain, they’re years away. However, due to the success of this public art process, we’re committed to splitting out future Percent for Art funds brought on by these expansions.

The art selected for the Smith and Bybee Lake recreational area/canoe launch (accessible from N. Marine Drive at Smith Lake) is installed. We continue to work on the selection process for the companion area in St. Johns and hope to have this selected and installed by the Spring.
