The
Professional Standards Section consists of the Internal Affairs
Unit and Inspections Unit.
The
Internal Affairs Unit is dedicated to creating an environment
which encourages the highest standards of integrity by assessing
and appropriately addressing complaints and concerns received from
the public and agency members.
Filing
a Complaint:
Citizens wishing to file a complaint may do so in person, or by
U.S. mail, at the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Administrative
Headquarters located on the third floor of the Multnomah Building
at 501 SE Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, Oregon, 97214.
Complaints may also be received via telephone by phoning the Internal
Affairs Unit at 503 988-4557, by fax to (503) 988-4324,
or you may fill out the following form

Complainants
may remain anonymous, however we encourage complainants to provide
their name, telephone number and mailing address to allow us to
conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged violation and
to notify the complainant of the action taken regarding their complaint.
The
Inspections Unit is dedicated to providing operational
support within the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office by assisting
in the creation of unequivocal policies and procedures, performing
thorough inspections, and completing comprehensive operational and
performance audits.
Life Safety Officer - Interfaces with all units
of the Sheriff’s Office, and many outside agencies, to ensure
safety standards are met, providing a safe working environment within
the Sheriff’s Office. The LSO facilitates the Sheriff’s
Office Safety Committees and teaches safety related classes to all
employees of the agency.
Enforcement Deputy - Richard Biles writes Sheriff’s
Office policy over the signature of the Sheriff. The Enforcement
Deputy also conducts audits and inquiries for the Inspections Unit,
and is responsible for revising the Sheriff’s Office Agency
Manual.
