Bail Funds

Bail is accepted 7 days a week under the following conditions at:
Justice Center Public Desk
2nd Floor
1120 SW Third
Portland, Or 97204

Bail Funds:

Bail funds are not accepted from 10:00 pm through 7:00 am

Money orders are not accepted for bail purposes.

On Monday through Friday - from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm
we accept:
Cash
Major Credit Cards*
Cashiers Checks: Cashiers checks must be accompanied by the business card of the issuing teller or customer service representative for verification purposes.
Cashier’s Check for bail purposes must be made out to “Multnomah County Sheriffs Office” Note: Any cashier’s check for a self-bail must be made out in the inmate's name.

On Holidays and Weekdays from 4:30 pm through 10:00 pm AND 7:00 am through 8:30 am
we accept:

Internal Revenue Form 8300
Bail Transaction of $10,000 or greater may require the filing of Internal Revenue Form 8300 if the charges are:

Drug Charges
Racketeering Charges
Money Laundering Charges

This form requires the person posting bail to present:
Valid government issued photo identification with their current address
Current Social Security number, tax identification number, or individual tax identification number.


Return of Bail Funds:
It takes two to four weeks for bail funds to reach the Courts from the Sheriff's Office.
Bail funds will not be released by the State until there is a final disposition of the case.
At that time 15% is withheld for the bail release fee (maximum of $200.00) and any and all fines owed to the Court by the defendant on this case or any other case will be deducted before the money is returned:
this can include back child support.
The Court must issue a check to the person who posted the bail.

DO NOT CALL THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE FOR BAIL MONEY RELEASES OR RETURNS.
CALL 503-988-3235 REGARDNG DISPOSITION OF BAIL FUNDS.
