MCSO Holiday DUII Enforcement Operations Result in 47 Stops, 4 DUII Arrests

MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. – Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) patrol deputies made 47 traffic stops, resulting in four Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) arrests during a recent holiday DUII enforcement operation.
The focused operation, which ran from December 10, 2025, through January 1, 2026, was part of MCSO’s ongoing commitment to reducing impaired driving crashes.
Over the course of five dedicated DUII enforcement shifts, patrol deputies increased visibility across the county to deter dangerous driving, reduce preventable crashes, and ensure safer roadways for everyone traveling in Multnomah County.
“We are grateful to our deputies for their vigilance and to the community members who made responsible choices this holiday season,” said Multnomah County Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell.
The operation focused on late night hours and peak travel periods, when impaired driving incidents historically increase.
MCSO reminds community members that intoxicants include alcohol, inhalants, illegal drugs, prescription medications, over‑the‑counter medications, and marijuana. Even small amounts of intoxicants can impair judgment and reaction time.
To help keep our roads safe year‑round, MCSO encourages the public to continue practicing safe driving habits:
- Plan ahead and designate a sober driver.
- Use rideshare, taxis, or public transit if you’ve consumed intoxicants.
- Avoid mixing alcohol with medications that may cause drowsiness or impairment.
- Leave your keys with a trusted person if you’re unsure whether you’re safe to drive.
Community members should always call 9-1-1 to report suspected impaired or dangerous drivers. Together, we can prevent crashes and save lives.
